Healthcare cybersecurity and data protectionProtect patient data and keep care running.
Security, backups and privacy controls for hospitals, clinics, labs and health-tech teams that cannot afford downtime.

What's at stake.
- 01
Ransomware and downtime
Locked systems delay care. Tested backups and a recovery plan matter more than any single tool.
- 02
Sensitive personal data
Health records are personal data under the DPDP Act and need strong safeguards.
- 03
Connected platforms
Systems integrated with national health platforms carry extra data-handling rules.
Rules and standards that usually apply.
Which ones apply depends on your licence, customers and data. Treat this as a starting list.
| Rule or standard | Who it applies to | What it asks for |
|---|---|---|
| DPDP Act, 2023 | Applies to · Hospitals, clinics, labs and health-tech firms (health data is personal data under the Act) | Asks for · Consent or a specified legitimate use, clear notices, reasonable security safeguards and breach notification (main duties from 13 May 2027) |
| ABDM health data management policy | Applies to · Systems integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission | Asks for · Rules for how health data is collected, stored, shared and consented to |
| CERT-In Directions (April 2022) | Applies to · Service providers, intermediaries, data centres and body corporates in India | Asks for · Report specified cyber incidents to CERT-In within 6 hours; keep ICT system logs for 180 days within India |
| HIPAA | Applies to · US covered entities and their business associates, including offshore vendors handling US patient data | Asks for · Safeguards for the privacy and security of US protected health information |
| ISO 22301 | Applies to · Organisations that need assured continuity | Asks for · A business continuity management system with plans that are exercised |

Where to start.
- Step 1
Book the free 30-minute IT & security health check
- Step 2
Run a backup restore test and write down the result
- Step 3
Map where patient data lives and who can reach it
Yes. Health data is personal data under the Act. Consent or a legitimate use, notices, safeguards and breach notification apply once the DPDP Rules' main obligations take effect (13 May 2027 under the Rules as notified).
Review the ABDM health data management policy against how your system collects, stores and shares data, and how consent is captured. We help you document and implement the controls. ABDM-linked security audits may need to be carried out by a CERT-In-empanelled auditor; ITCCS is not one, so we prepare you for that audit and help remediate its findings.
Offline or immutable backups, tested restores, MFA everywhere, patched systems and a written response plan. We set these up and run a tabletop exercise.
Let's build what's next.
Tell us about your infrastructure, security or automation goals. We reply with questions, then a written plan with scope and next steps.
